CLOVER VALLEY FOUNDATION IS AWARDED LightHawk GRANT The Clover Valley Foundation, a 501(c).3 tax exempt organization based in Loomis, CA, recently announced the receipt of a an aerial services grant by the LightHawk Foundation - the largest environmental helicopter service in North America. LightHawk's aviation services were used by the Foundation in the production of their new film: "Clover Valley - Last of Its Kind." LightHawk has been providing aviation services to partner organizations, the media, decision-makers, community members and researchers since 1979, making it the largest and oldest volunteer-based environmental aviation organization in North America. LightHawk has completed thousands of flight missions involving more than 700 flights each year for hundreds of partners throughout eight countries in North and Central America. The aviation service says their missions have addressed a broad range of issues, strengthening their partners’ efforts by offering the aerial perspective on the issues they consider critical and enabling them to gather data and documentation for their campaigns. But most of all, the view from above speaks for itself, providing breathtaking clarity of understanding. "This is exactly what the Clover Valley Foundation gained from LightHawk," explained Marilyn Jasper, President of the Clover Valley Foundation. "We were able to see from the air the splendor and uniqueness of Clover Valley - from the steep oak-studded hillsides to the riparian corridor to the wetlands. Even the historical rock wall and ancient grinding stones were visible and easily photographed." Jasper said the footage was used by Sierra College Geography professor Sean Booth in the creation of the recently- released documentary: "Clover Valley - Last of Its Kind." Booth, as well as other members of the faculty at the college and the ECOS Club (Ecologic Consortium of Students) hosted the film premier for the community earlier in the month at the campus Dietrich Theatre. Jasper said the film was widely applauded and a great boost to both the Foundation and the Save Clover Valley Coalition's community-awareness campaign. The Save Clover Valley Coalition will continue to show the film throughout the region. Community organizations interested in hosting a film showing should contact the coalition via their hotline phone number: 435-3828 or at saveclovervalley@hotmail.com.
